I believe in creating an atmosphere that is not only conducive to learning but also helps reduce and eliminate as many behavior issues as possible. In our class, we use a positive behavior approach that reinforces good choices through communication, positive reinforcement, and praise. The following pictures are a few strategies our class has adopted to help with solving problems and ensure we are all making "good choices."
Class Dojo- The students have the opportunity to earn Positive Dojo points throughout the week. If students are off task or not following Disney rules, they can also earn Negative Dojo points. Our class goal for the week is at least 5 Positive Dojo points by Friday. If they receive 5 positive points they will earn a dot by their name on our Class Dojo chart. The person with the most Positive points at the end of the week will also get to pick a prize from the prize box. You can check your child's dojo points on a daily basis to see how they are doing and you can even make your own at-home behavior plan for free! classdojo.com
Classroom Rules-Our Classroom Rules the students created the first week of school focuses on positive behavior and helps our class run smoothly and safely each and every day.
Choice Wheel-When students become upset or need help resolving a conflict with a friend, they are encouraged to choose a choice from the Choice Wheel. "3 Before Me" means that the students should try three strategies on the wheel before coming to the teacher for assistance on solving his/her problem, unless of course it is an emergency.
